Service Description

A comprehensive training program spanning five days, structured into two parts. Part 1, consisting of the first three days, covers modules 1 to 6. Day 1: Module 1: Introduction to Governance in the UK • Overview of the NGO/charity sector in the UK. • The role and importance of trustees in governance. • Key regulatory bodies (e.g., Charity Commission for England and Wales) and their functions. Module 2: Legal and Regulatory Framework • Charities Act 2011 and its implications. • Registration and reporting requirements. • Compliance with fundraising regulations. Day 2: Module 3: Trustee Roles and Responsibilities • The legal duties of trustees, including the duty of care, duty of loyalty, and duty of prudence. • Conflict of interest management. • Trustees' liability and indemnity. Module 4: Governance Structures and Board Operations • Board composition and diversity. • The role of the Chair and Vice-Chair. • Effective board meetings and decision-making processes. • Subcommittees and their functions. Day 3: Module 5: Financial Management and Reporting • Budgeting and financial planning. • Monitoring financial performance. • Annual reporting and accounts. • Charities SORP (Statement of Recommended Practice) compliance. Module 6: Risk Management and Safeguarding • Identifying and managing organisational risks. • Safeguarding policies and procedures. • Data protection (GDPR) and cybersecurity. Throughout the training, interactive discussions, group activities, and practical exercises should be incorporated to reinforce learning and allow participants to apply the concepts they've learned. Each day can include breaks and opportunities for questions and discussions to facilitate engagement and understanding. At the end of the program, participants can receive a certification of completion.
